I was a founder member of the Black Diamond Jazz Band in 1954. This was Trad Jazz, New Orleans Jazz. We played at The Blue Boar on West Bar and the Methodist Church in Howard St. There was another jazz band called The Apex Jazz Band, formed by students at the University at that time who played at a pub on West St. We used to run Jazz Jamborees at the time at the Locarno Ball Room, and we played as support bands in the City Hall. I have some photographs and programmes but no film. Is this of any interest to you. We could develop it a bit further depending on what direction you might want to go.
